THE INSIGHT HUB

Character Education in Action: August Focus: Peacemaking

Each month, CIS highlights one of our Ontario Character Education in Action attributes. For August we are focused on Peacemaking.

More schools today are embracing Peacemaking—teaching students to resolve conflicts with respect, empathy, and dialogue. Rather than focusing only on discipline, this approach encourages students to manage emotions, listen to others, and take responsibility for their actions.

By fostering a culture of understanding and inclusion, Peacemaking helps our students grow into compassionate, thoughtful leaders ready to succeed in a diverse world.

(*) Tip for Parents: Encourage Peacemaking at home by modeling calm conversations and guiding children to express their feelings respectfully when disagreements arise.

CIS Curriculum Showcase 2025

Each new school year at CIS begins with Curriculum Information Day - a time for parents to gain a complete picture of their child’s learning journey. From our educational vision and growth goals to the curriculum framework and support systems in place, the event offers clarity and connection right from the start. Parents also have the opportunity to meet with the Leadership Team, exchange ideas with teachers, and align on how we can best support students in their first steps of the year.

A journey begins with books

The CIS Library has transformed into a colorful book fair, held in collaboration with Phuong Nam Bookstore. Here, students, teachers, and parents wander between shelves, discover new titles, and share the joy of reading together. Beyond the excitement of bringing home a favorite book, the fair reflects CIS’s belief that every page nurtures curiosity, sparks creativity, and builds the foundation for lifelong learning.
